Getting Crafty For Spring

With warmer weather my crafty mojo is kicking in. I blew the dust off of my sewing machines recently and have been sewing up a storm. Thanks to my friend Susan for inspiring me to create clothes with a little retro feel. She sent me a link to Pink Chalk Fabrics. They have beautiful downloadable patterns and retro style fabrics.
This was the dress that caught her eye!

We Survived Chicago!

Members of our staff recently attended the Chicago Midwest Americas Best Beauty Show

We are definitely on beauty overload!  We have brought back a wonderful selection of products and new services we can't wait to do!
One that you have been asking about is light cured gel polish. We did our research and picked a product from NSI called Pro Polish.

Cold and Crafty Days

So I've been busy during the freezing cold and snow we've been having around here. The knitting needles are flying, glue sticks in hand, cardboard and scissors and a little fabric thrown in for variety. Sooner rather than later I need to make some jewelry too!

So I came across a blog that I love StitchMana. I love her patterns and immediately bought yarn to make the Spoilt for Choice and Foliage patterns. Here is my Foliage vest...
I love the leaf edging. It ...

Wandering Vines Scarf

My son has been wanting a scarf so I let him pick out yarn the other day at our local Meijer Grocery Store. He liked the Lion Brand Tweed

We both loved this color. Now I had to create the scarf. I probably tried out 3 or 4 different stitches, needle sizes etc before I decided on creating a scarf using an easy lace pattern called Wandering Vines.

Here are my easy instructions:

I'm Back!

So, it has been an unusual end of 2010 for me and my family. I was in a serious car accident and am glad to be alive. I suffered a concussion and my brain was busy with everyday tasks, like remembering where I was going when I left a room, so my creative side was on hold for a few months.

Lucky for me and my family I am recovering and back to my usual crafty, sarcastic self. I have been on a knitting binge and here are pics of my most recent ... << MORE >>

What's Up with this Newfangled Nail Polish?

So I have been hearing a lot about some new nail polish that is supposed to last 2 weeks. I have been doing nails over 20 years and have seen products come and go and have seen similar products in the past. Somehow they never lived up to the hype. Clients have been asking me about what I think so I decided to try it out on myself. I have nails that will pretty much grow like weeds, most products (gel/acrylic/fiberglass) stick on them well, but as a hairstylist/nail tech and major crafter nail polish never stays on ... << MORE >>

Our Vacation 2010

So this week we took our first official family vacation!  Yes we have been out of town before, but we usually end up visiting and staying with family. We decided we needed to have fun with just the three of us and now we really want to make it an annual (at least) thing. We went to  Pigeon Forge. We did make one little pit stop to visit my Grandma in the Knoxville TN area. First we went to The Lost Sea in Sweetwater TN.

All-Nutrient Keratin+ Treatment

I am so pleased to offer the All-Nutrient Keratin+ Treatment. Keratin "straightening" systems are all the rage now just like the Japanese straightening systems were in the past. The problem with the Japanese system was that the hair was often not left in great condition at the end of the process...yes it was straight, but not shiny or silky. I started ... << MORE >>

Bad Hair Days

So, by day I am a hairstylist and I always find it funny how many people think I am judging their hair all the time. I honestly don't look at your hair and think "OH MY GOD!  Does she even own a mirror!"  Not that I don't notice truly horrific hair, but I am trained to look at a person as a whole, and so often hair is a reflection of the persons general attitude about life. Easy hair - easy going, complicated style - complicated life. People who spend hours fussing about their hair are often not ... << MORE >>

My Double Pointed Needle Roll

So in my last post I had purchase a set of 15 pairs of double pointed needles. So I don't lose track of them I made a needle case for them. I had already made one for my other needles, but I went searching on the internet for some guidelines.

I found this blog by One Potato.    She inspired me to make this one. I made a few changes so I thought I'd write down what I did.

Here is the outside of ... << MORE >>
